Kathy Kessler Price (M.M., Ph.D.), soprano and Professor of Voice at Westminster Choir College of Rider University, teaches voice pedagogy courses and applied voice lessons. She directs both the Presser Voice Laboratory and the annual Westminster Voice Pedagogy Institute. A native of Richmond, Virginia, she earned her BA (University of Richmond), her MM in Voice Performance (University of Maryland), and her Ph.D. in Voice Pedagogy (University of Kansas). Dr. Price is the artistic director/conductor of the acclaimed D.C. women’s ensemble Philomela, which has appeared at the French Embassy, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, and The White House. She has performed as a soloist at the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, and in a solo concert tour of the Czech Republic and has served as a soloist/voice clinician in Brazil, Croatia, and Moscow. Dr. Price has participated as a distance guest lecturer in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Azerbaijan. In 2025, she spoke on menopausal effects on the singing voice at the Performing Arts Medicine Association in D.C., and at the International Congress of Voice Teachers in Toronto. Her 2010 dissertation examined 307 cis-female voices in light of menopausal status and menopausal hormone therapy. She is published in the Journal of Research in Music Education, The International Journal of Research in Choral Singing, and the NATS Journal of Singing. She co-authored the books The Anatomy of Tone and Intonational Solfege, co-authored a chapter on online voice pedagogy for the Oxford Handbook of Voice Pedagogy, and has co-written an essay on breathing for an upcoming book on the renowned pedagogue, Richard Miller, titled Sotto Voce.
