“'Intro to the Singing Athlete”

This masterclass introduces the brain-based voice training framework and shows how neurological principles apply directly to choral singing and rehearsal. Conductors will learn the Assess and Reassess method — a real-time approach to measuring vocal change as it happens — and walk away with physical drills that blend seamlessly into any warm-up or rehearsal structure. The class includes a simple visual assessment that reveals how a singer's gaze pattern affects their coordination, and what that means for conductors working to build ensemble connection. Participants will also learn which part of the brain matters most for musical training and how to design rehearsal experiences that actually develop it.

You will learn:

  • The brain-based voice training framework: how neurological principles apply to singers
  • Assess and Reassess: using real-time sensory feedback to measure vocal change
  • Physical drills that are easy to blend into a choral warm-up and rehearsal
  • A simple visual assessment for choral singers (looking at the score vs. looking at the conductor)
  • The most important part of the brain to train for musicians
